It’s obvious the too-early championship talk of the Miami Heat in Year 1 of the “Big Three,†and the sting that came with it, didn’t resonate with everyone.
Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace got the bragging bug when he spoke to the Max and Marcellus Show on ESPN Radio on Friday (via ESPNLosAngeles). Talking about the Lakers’ new-look roster, World Peace said he didn’t expect much competition in the 2012-13 season.

"With the way the Lakers are looking this year, I don't see anybody getting past us this year at all," World Peace said.
The Lakers will be impressive when their full lineup is together. World Peace will take the court with Steve Nash, Antawn Jamison and Kobe Bryant immediately. Key acquisition Dwight Howard is coming off back surgery and will not be available for training camp or the start of preseason.
While Howard is unlikely to be in action anytime soon, World Peace is impressed with what he has seen from Jamison.
"I saw Jamison today," World Peace said. "People forget how much a great rebounder he is. He's one of the greatest rebounders of the game, he has the best touch out of everybody in the NBA, best touch out of all the big men in the game."
Possible chemistry troubles or setbacks for Howard don’t appear to weigh heavily on World Peace’s mind, even with improvements to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers.
The chore of getting three superstars and two serviceable forwards to fulfill World Peace’s expectations will fall on the shoulders of coach Mike Brown. World Peace doesn’t see that as a problem.
"Not only does he have confidence in his team, he also has confidence in himself," World Peace said of Brown. "I gotta trust in myself, trust in my teammates most importantly."
