LONDONâ"No question, after beating Nigeria last Thursday and setting the Olympic scoring mark in the process, Team USA was feeling pretty good. According to the respected local paper, the London Times, they were feeling good enough to roll into the Aspers Casino, near Olympic Park, after the game.
The paper claimed that, once there, âKobe Bryant, the $50 million U.S. basketball player, challenged a group of ... volunteers, known as the Games Makers, to a drinking contest when he and his teammates visited a casino next to the Olympic Park.â
The Games Makers is a term for the purple-shirted Britons who are serving as guides and ushers during the Olympics, and apparently Bryant and friends cozied up to some of them for some postgame celebration.
âThey took on a group of Games Makers, who were regulars at the casino. One said that the 6ft 6in Bryant ordered a round of three shots: gin, brandy and tequila. The rest were hazy on how much was drunk and by whom.â
