Kobe Bryant to auction chance to play him in a game of H-O-R-S-E - Examiner.com

The offseason has officially begun for the Los Angeles Lakers with plenty of speculation circulating about the future of the franchise. Despite the Lakers’ front office being hard at work retooling this team during the summer, five-time NBA champion is getting prepared for a run at a second consecutive gold medal with Team USA in the 2012 Olympics in London, England.

Before Kobe ships off to London with other NBA superstars like LeBron James and Kevin Durant to play for Coach K, the perennial All-Star will auction off a chance to play him in a game of H-O-R-S-E. This auction will take place on June 4 through June 11.

Kobe is no stranger to auctions with having auctioned off his protective mask recently for $67,100. The mask was used over an 11-game span during the 2011-12 NBA season when Kobe suffered a broken nose after being hit in the face while driving to the basket by Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat during the 2012 NBA All-Star game.

All proceeds of the auction will go to the Kobe & Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation's Youth Homelessness Initiative. The game of H-O-R-S-E with the NBA superstar will happen on June 2 in Santa Barbara, California.

Even though this game is for charity and something that Kobe will most likely not be taking too seriously, there’s a good chance that once the game gets underway that the future Hall of Famer will turn on that competitive fire.
