After suffering a shin injury on his left leg recently, the Lakersâ coaching staff decided that it would be better for Kobe Bryant to rest in order to get healthy for the upcoming playoffs. As arguably one of the toughest basketball players in the history of the league, Kobe isnât one from sitting on the sidelines and simply watching the Lakers play.
With that being said, the leagueâs leading is not used to a role on the bench and mentoring while getting his body back to optimal health. Despite this being the case, the five-time NBA champion has agreed to let his most recent injury heal by sitting out two games against the Phoenix Suns and the New Orleans Hornets.
As a result of Kobe helpless on the Lakersâ bench, the Lakeshow lost one out of two games. These results werenât all that bad considering, but the team obviously struggled without their leading scorer shouldering the load offensively.
On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Lakers traveled to the San Antonio, Texas to take on one of their most bitter rivals at the AT&T Center. This will mark the first time of the season that the Lakers take on the San Antonio Spurs and they will have to face arguably one of the best teams in the league without Kobe Bryant once again.
This matchup with the Spurs will be one of three in the final weeks of the NBA regular season. There have been reports that Kobe might be able to return to the Lakersâ lineup by Friday, but in the meantime the Lakeshow will have to show some resilience against a San Antonio squad that has been red-hot as of late with 11 wins in the least 12 games.
